Repost from @wearewildstrong
Such a pleasure to have Dan Edwardes on the podcast this month!
We’ve followed Dan for years. As the founder and CEO of @parkourgenerations, the multi-award-winning organisation for parkour, Dan has dedicated his life to practical movement, functional skills, and physical fitness. With an extensive background in fighting arts before he found parkour, his journey is fascinating and inspiring.
Dan created the globally recognized A.D.A.P.T™ parkour coaching qualifications (delivered in over 35 countries!) and developed innovative programs like the Parkour Fitness Specialist™ certification, Parkour for Schools, and the Animal Paths™ movement curriculum for young people. He even played a key role in establishing Parkour UK, the world’s first National Governing Body for the discipline.
What’s so impressive about Dan is his ability to synthesise ideas across the movement space.
He writes an extremely thoughtful blog, the sort of blog we wish we’d written – it’s so good we’ve even added it to our L1 course reading list.
Here’s what we covered in our conversation:
Finding your “why” and setting meaningful goals
The emergence of parkour: what it is and what it isn’t
Models for teaching movement and skill acquisition
Where the fitness industry fails
The value of community building and face-to-face training
Andrew took pages of notes from this episode! We hope you get as much out of it as we did. ![]()
